[ Ellery Street Team ] :: Aug 1st, 2006, 1:11pm
Nothing makes a bigger difference in spreading our music than having the help of people who love it...

Our label, Virt Records, has been hard at work acquiring press, radio and retail for the CD -- But that's only half the battle.
The rest is actually up to you, our friends & fans. A group of passionate people like yourselves is really what will make our music take off... So we'd love for you to join the Ellery Street Team to help promote the release! We're recruiting fans from every city to join the effort.

When we signed with an independent label, it was a conscious decision to do things in a more organic way: to let our music speak for itself, and to build an audience one listener at a time. With an indie label there's no top-down hype, no carefully manufactured image...

However, succeeding at this approach requires the help of people who really believe in what we're doing: the fans who go the extra mile to spread the word about music they love.

And naturally, there are perks for helping out... (See below!)

To sign up for the Street Team, just send an email to streetteam@ellerymusic.com, and include the following information:

1. Your name
2. Your location
3. What you're willing to help with (see ideas below), your own ideas for promotion if you have any, etc.

(If you've already contacted Ellery expressing interest in the Street Team, don't worry - We've kept your info!)

Here are some of the things a street team will do:

- Call radio stations (we'll give you the info) to request songs from "Lying Awake"
- Introduce friends to Ellery's music and send them to shows (This is a bigger help than you could imagine!)
- Go to music stores and ask whether they carry our CD... (If not, tell them that they should! If so, ask how many they're stocking, if they're running any special promotions for it, etc.) We'll always let you know what to say and how it works.
- Put up posters or flyers for upcoming shows
- Suggest new venues for Ellery to play in your city, at your college, etc. (Including hosting a private house concert!)
- Help with Internet promotion
- Help sell merchandise at shows
- Keep us updated on what you're doing (Which is important for getting credit where it's due! We'll tell you how.)

There's only so much we can do on our own, especially since we're usually just traveling through an area... So having help from people in cities & towns all across the country is an unbelievable (and essential!) support.
And, quite often, your personal recommendation of our music (as opposed to CD reviews, radio airplay, etc) is actually what encourages people to give it a listen!

So, we want to make sure we're offering something that expresses our gratitude for your work and time and belief in our music --
Here are the potential "rewards":

+ Free or discounted admission to Ellery shows in your city
+ A (free!) Pre-Released copy of Ellery's forthcoming EP of B-sides and Live recordings
+ Free or Discounted Ellery Merchandise, including "Lying Awake", stickers, apparel (coming soon!), and more
+ Invitation to a private listening party to preview new albums before they're actually released
+ Opportunity to win an intimate concert in your living room (Like a house show, but without the parameters!)
+ A hefty bit of satisfaction from spreading the word about something you love! (This is terribly cheesy, but we hope it's true.) :-)

Thanks so much for your support -- We're excited to see you on the Team!

[ Ellery Signs with Virt Records! ] :: Nov 29th, 2005, 5:58pm
Ellery is entering a new season, and we've been looking forward to sharing the news with you:

We recently signed with Virt Records, an independent label based out of Seattle, Washington. We've been in touch with them for quite a while now, and it feels like a great match; we're excited to partner with them and allow the music to drift into a larger audience.

In conjunction with signing with the label, we've been back in the studio with the amazing Ric Hordinski these last couple weeks, recording five more songs. Virt will be adding these songs to the existing 6-song EP and re-releasing the album as a Full-Length CD early next year. We'll keep you posted...!

 Holiday & Goodbye...

In the meantime, the EP will have to disappear. :( As of December 31st, "Make Your Troubles Mine" will no longer be available for sale. Its six songs will re-emerge on the new full-length in the Spring, but the EP itself will be no more...
So, if you'd like to purchase the EP before December 31st, it will be on a special "Holiday and Goodbye Sale" for only $5, beginning today!!

If you don't own a copy, if you've wanted to give the music to friends and family, or if you just want to keep some copies around for Old Time's Sake, the time to get them is now. You can order your copies online at the Music page! (EPs will also be available at our local December 6th show.)

 Pre-Orders:

We'll soon begin taking Pre-Orders for the new (yet-to-be-named) Full-Length release. From December 6-31, you can pre-order a copy of the new Full-Length for only $11, with Free Shipping. (Beginning January 1st, Pre-Orders will be $15, also with Free Shipping).

This is as a special thanks to all of you who've been on board with us up until now; we wanted to make this available to you first, at a special rate. :)

All Pre-Orders will be delivered 1-2 weeks before the official Release Date, with the option to have them signed. Keep your eyes out for the pre-order form on our site, and we'll keep all the latest news (including release dates) coming!

[ The Goings-On ] :: Aug 1st, 2005, 10:06am
After a short hiatus from the world of fiction, we're jumping in with both feet.
Since we're attempting to catch up, Justin began The Order of the Phoenix this weekend.
But there's only one copy in the house, so Tasha is waiting her turn with Madamme Bovary, which is proving to be all it's cracked up to be. (Funny how that happens.)

On the music front, "Songs for Silverman", the new Ben Folds CD... Wow. We also made a recent rediscovery of Jump Little Children, and are particularly excited about "Mexico" and "Rains in Asia"... Although what can compare with "Cathedrals"? Check all three out on iTunes - Good good good.

On the website front, we were recently moved by what we saw here.
And recently entertained by Strong Bad's Bottom 10.

On the movie front, we saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last weekend. (As a big fan of the Dahl book, and a not-at-all fan of the first movie version, and as a fan of Johnny Depp... Loved it. Good job Mr. Burton.)

On the refrigerator front, we have a couple of scary leftover containers, miscellaneous fruit, butter, and some cheese slices. (Hey, we thought we were leaving for two weeks!)
